Casa dos Bicos
The Casa dos Bicos is, since 2012, the home of the José Saramago Foundation. Built in the XVI century, was destroyed by the Earthquake of 1755, and rebuilt in the XX century. The Casa offers to public conferences, concerts, debates, and a permanente exhibition about the life and the work of the 1998's Nobel Prize of Literature. Born in Azinhaga (Ribatejo) in 1922, José Saramago died in Lanzarote, Canarian Islands, in 2010. He left a wide litterary work, and a political and civic legacy.
